Plans...

"...FOREST FOR THE TREES"  - 38x50 - mixed media

So here's the plan... more blogging, less Facebooking and an effort to find my comfort zone on Google+. My plans, like my paintings, have a way of taking on a life of their own but they still require some kind of forethought to get them off the ground, so here we go!

Mist rising off the lake this morning, meaning the air is cooler than the water and is a sure sign of change of seasons. Met my Thursday paint group at a remote, scenic lake, and the consensus was... everything's too green! Well, I bet not for long! Alabama football is on TV right now... another sure sign we're entering the best time of the year! Perfect for outdoor chores/projects/excuses to wander around and enjoy. Roll Tide!

So... of course, the art season also kicks in and all those preparations were supposed to be taken care of when it was too hot to go outside, right? I did... I delivered around and was relaxing when a call came to update all work in Atlanta... they just checked my website, viewed the new work I took to NOLA and they LOVE it... want some of that! Well... that's always good news but that means more time in the studio when I'd rather be digging in the dirt! The painting shown here was one they particularly liked... one of a number of tree paintings I explored this summer. I have no complaints!

Beautiful painting.
I too am trying to find some social media balance. Sometimes I think the time for blogging has passed, but then my friends and readers say no, so OK. Let's blog! I always enjoy reading yours.

Love this new work, and it sure sounds like things are going well. Good luck with Google+ - I have yet to check it out...it's so hard keeping up with everything.

Thanks to both of you for being loyal readers... I think blogs still have their place even if no one reads, it at least leaves a trail that we can refer back to and, so far, we have control. I'm amazed at how much I've forgotten that I've written and then a search reveals details which have gotten blurry! Hard to pick up on that kind of thread on Facebook or Google+... though they serve more of a community purpose, I think.

Thanks for making this effort, Karen. FB is too facile - too easy to just whip through marking Like and moving along. Blogging is where the writer can really dig in and the reader gets more for their (non)money. I'm not giving up on blogging and with the changes in FB, it all feels so overwhelmingly like the time suck it is, that I can feel myself retreating from it.

I really like this painting, by the way. The cool colors are refreshing !

You set a high bar with your blogging, Nancy... always a great read on many levels. Seems like a good time to apply a little self discipline and modify the 'social' side of my online experience. I think that can be done without giving it up entirely as I really enjoy the day to day happenings in the lives of people I respect and learn from... plus really enjoy knowing. It's a good thing but needs to not get carried away.

We are on the same page with this for sure, I am going to blog instead of posting so much on FB and G+. I think of them more as a high faluting twitter page now. I think short to the point blogs beat the heck out random hard to find posts any day. I like having the reference ability too, as well as if you self publish a little book on blurb or another self publishing site you can publish a book of blogs with great ease. I love the above painting; but then again, you have not put one out I did not like! ;)
I still have special feelings for that Bokoshu bunch, there is something so cerebral in them that alludes me but intrigues me endlessly...fascinating work! Forget digging get to painting!!! LOL

Thanks especially for the good words on the Bokusho series. They were getting good response here until NorDys Gallery closed and I haven't found a gallery that appreciates them since. I think they deserve a big box space but I'm not going to do the work that's needed. Just going with the flow.

And thank you, WBA... good color feedback that I'm paying attention to ;)
