My Bad...

An ongoing project is the consolidation and tossing of a career of unnecessary accumulation. It's too big a job to tackle all at once so I just take it a drawer, shelf or closet at a time, thinning out and returning another time to thin out again. Some items are hard to toss. Like a set of ledgers that track the early years, mostly art festivals and early gallery associations. The mangled pages pictured above go back to 1977.

Recently the ledgers were de-shelved and temporarily floored until I could make up my mind if it was time to turn loose... I mean after all, the contents had long ago been transfered to my computer database. They hold no meaningful info that hasn't been documented elsewhere. But something about handwriting, side notes, memories that stir when I handle them... it's hard to toss a system that verified my early progress, in both red and black ink.

My g-dog was here for the day and you can probably guess the rest. I was downstairs in the studio and she was bored... my bad. She at least finalized the decision to dispense with the ledgers... But wait! A few notes caught my eye, remembered names and places along with the emotional ride from the sale of a small matted watercolor... remembering the watercolor even. Nah, there's room on the shelf for these. It's the storage room that needs surgical attention!

I recognized Daisy's work right away! Sorry 'bout that. She apologizes too, in her slobbery, puppy, overly friendly kind of way.

Maybe I should turn her loose on the studio storage room... she could select what needs to go!

A lot of collage artists would probably love to have those!

What's up with dogs and paper? One of mine considers it a delicacy.

Collage...? Ummm... then I wouldn't have to toss!
