There are those who laugh when told that I will be gone for almost a full month. Those who know my usual eagerness to get home, lack of enthusiasm for travel and reputation as a hermit. Admittedly, I've also wondered how I'll fare, but a thought comes that might be explained by the painting shown in this newsclipping (for lack of a proper photo.)
First, let me hasten to explain that I dote on my family, all generations... life has been good to the extreme and I'm eternally grateful. Okay, that said... in all my life, I have never had a time of total independence from being a daughter, wife, mother or grandmother. At all times, someone else comes first and foremost in my thoughts, plans, hopes and dreams (even if I appear to be self absorbed.) There's never been a Uni-Me. I see this upcoming month as that opportunity to be totally selfish in my time and energy, to focus and contemplate things that have nothing to do with the business of art or well being of family. No doubt, I will be counting down the days to return, I don't expect that much to change. But there will be this experience to look back on, to compare uni-status with cloned status... we'll see.

I'm so glad you introduced yourself on the EDM group and gave us the link to your wonderful blog. Your work is amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do in your Moleskine (and / or hand-made sketchbook) while in France. Sounds like an exciting and well deserved time!

Oh, Karen! Relish it! What a great opportunity and with such a clear vision. Be all ages, be all women, feel the richness of life surrounding you, relax in it, fly in it. And, by golly, have so much fun!
