Slow Comprehension

Joan Miro said, "Throughout the time in which I am working on a canvas I can feel how I am beginning to love it, with that love which is born of slow comprehension."

"Yes!" I thought to myself... that's it! The slow comprehension that develops when the piece begins to come together. I should qualify that I do envy those who seem to turn out very good work very quickly, but I always feel cheated somehow by quickies... they don't seem to have the weight behind them I need to know about. The respect that comes with understanding... the comprehension. A fine example is 'Cinnabar,' which lingered long on my studio wall, until it finally showed it's strength.
