Power Week...

What a blast! Six kids and up to seven adults by the end of the week... a good time had by all!

Every day meant a trip to the lake for tubing and skiing... none of the g-kids had skied before but were willing to learn. Here is a dry-land explanation of what to expect. One of them actually did stay up for nearly a mile! More will succeed next summer with better skis and a dash of competition.

I got lucky and was gifted with this very long piece of driftwood! I'm thrilled they thought to bring it home from the big lake for me. Am looking for exactly the right spot to show it off. It has a very beautiful gestural line that I would love to capture in one medium or another.

While the rest of the group headed for the big lake, I stayed home and picked up an old craft from years ago. I come from a long line of needle workers and have spent many hours with one version or another but gave it up when painting took over. Disliking plastic shopping bags more and more I started thinking about making string bags... which turned into all sorts of g-kid bags in many sizes including little pouches for cell phones and cameras. No two were alike so they drew numbers to pick the ones they wanted then trimmed with beads and such. Had no idea my week would be spent that way... don't you love spontaneous fun?

Synchronization isn't always so easy... or maybe I'm just a hard act to follow ;-) The guy in the back is supposed to keep his paddle in sync with the one in front. This is a double kayak brought to the gathering by eldest son. I think we'd best stick to separate boats! Note the outrider following us... security maybe? She wouldn't want to miss a good view should we tip over! (She's heard that I've done that before...)

A few days to recoup and then my little brother brings his wife and three of his g-kids to spend a few days at the lake. It should be a much more laid back visit... provided I can get the house back in shape for company! And, btw, studio time is actually happening! Need to get some pics taken...
