Summertime...

2008 - Pylons 4 & 5 - 48" h.
should be wall hung but...

As you know, I drop and run for any chance to be with my scattered g-kids. We're lucky to be in-town with our two China pearls who are in and out frequently, but much time is spent worrying about what the ones outside of my shepherding reach are up to. Several are now over the age limit for most Y and church summer camps and with all parents working that means the younger teens and tweens are home alone much of the time.

So...

There we were, just J and me, trying to enjoy all the quiet ambiance the lakehouse has to offer and making busy playing 'what-if' with potential projects... and I sunk deeply into what I can only call... a really punk depression! Couldn't relax and enjoy, could only think of the fun the kids could be having, comparing thoughts of them overdosing on TV vs learning to sail and splashing around the swim tube. They are due to be here for a week next month but that is then and this is now...

So...

Gas prices be damned... I'm hauling paintings to NOLA on Saturday (always good for a tax write-off) and returning with at least two, maybe four, g-kids (blended families mean blended schedules) for a week of fun and games. The local two will join us at the lakehouse for the week and the place will rock!

We have no Internet connection there and TV service isn't tops so we'll all be relying on our survival wits to entertain... this may be a challenge, but we will survive. I do sorta wish I had one of those neat iPhones Annette introduced me to... would really help me cut back on my addictive tendencies (or create a new dependency.) I hear a new model will be out soon... it just might be something I could contrive a real need for.

So...

I'll be out of pocket for a bit (without an iPhone to even check mail) though I may get another post off before I leave... depending on what pops to mind between then and now. Y'all behave...

Those times are fleeting -- they'll be gone to the four winds before you know it. They will thank you many times over for these summers together. You're all gonna have a blast!
