Would That I Could...

As an artist who has covered a lot of ground... style, mediums, techniques, etc... I'm usually pretty satisfied that I've given my best, chosen the right forks in the road and am where I ought to be. But now and then (more often than I like to admit) I spot work that makes me just flat out want to paint like that. I feel a strong basic surge of... um, lust for the style medium or technique. If I'd made a different choice, been under a different influence, I would have done the laps that might have lead to that kind of expertise. Don't think for a minute that I'm thinking regret... this is simply one of those greedy "I want it all... starting with that... and no, don't take away anything I already have!" moments.

The work in question is that of Karin Jurick. The word is LUSH... with a good mix of know-how tossed in. That 'know-how' is what I'm missing. I've avoided the kind of training and effort it takes to work the figure so assuredly. I very much like her style...

I can feel the sun in Karin's painting.

I still want to do some work with figures. But I also realize it would take years of work to develop that level of skill.

Painting feels like a pleasure that I'm able to indulge in whenever I want. And yet there's always that wish to taste someone else's treat.

Karen - those are my feelings exactly , I LOVE Karins work. I want to be her when I graw up ;-)

But I also love your paintings - great abstract-ish landscapes, beautiful colours. Great!

Yes, yes. I can identify with those feelings. I love this work too.
