Kissing Frogs...

2007 - View From Here - 36x52

Still with house guests, but they've headed south for a few days. So I'm cramming time in the studio, trying to play catch-up and fill the many 'soft' requests that came my way just as I couldn't do anything about them. Now I'm not sure who wanted what... but no matter, I'm painting with gusto and focusing on landscapes. I think the above painting is starting to show signs of promise though I know I'm far from settling on a style I can call my own. The hope is that my landscapes will become recognizable as my work to the degree that most of my abstracts are. Gotta kiss a lot of frogs first. The crazy thing is that when I do one I really like and feel is 'really me' it is next to impossible to do another in the same style as successfully. I know the reason why... must consistently work at it over time. I'm trying...

I love the line work that you left open above the solid field. Love it. For me it makes the whole painting.
