2000 - Etude 5 - Encaustic - 18x18First and foremost is to get the damaged painting repaired and out of my realm of responsibility so maybe some of that other stuff can surface. Had a little problem getting the wrapped canvas to come all the way around the new stretcher edges but with a little muscle help from the old man, it's all tacked back in place and prep work has begun on repairing the damaged paint parts. Should be a cinch... expecting no problems if I can keep myself from repainting the painting! As mentioned before, this piece was finished hurriedly and didn't get as much massaging as I usually give my work.
So what next... how 'bout that encaustic time I promised myself this winter? Ummm.... a bit of studio organization will be necessary first...

Hi KJ, Just started to blog and posted. Then decided to see who else blogged about absstract art and here you are. Was wondering if you went to the Encaustic Symposium in Mass. '08? Just a connection, I went and took a class from Joanne Materra.
BTW, nice work. I don't remember seeing it there.

I'm not doing much in the way of encaustics these days... these are archived pieces. I enjoyed working with wax but not exclusively. I didn't go to any of the symposiums but they looked like fun.
