I Don't Know (An Artist's Lament)

I don't know
Who you are.

I don't know
What you see when you look at my painting.

I don't know
What makes you return.

I don't know
Who you think I am.

I don't know
If you care who I am.

I don't know
If you're wrong about me or my painting.

I don't know
Why you decide to buy it.

I don't know
Where it is now.

I don't know
Anything anymore...

I wish I did...

I think...

I don't know,
Maybe it's best this way...

Are you feeling contemplative or down?

It seems that my favorite bloggers are in blue periods.

this doesn't seem like a kj post.
and because different is good, i like that you did this poem. it's honest and good for me to imagine that you can still, after all these years, have these thoughts here and there.

Contemplative, mostly, playing with thoughts. I've long felt the absence of interaction with buyers... the down side of gallery representation, but I'd be sunk without them... then I'd really be down and looking for something else to do.

These kinds of thoughts never go away, Paula... I've felt your anxiety more than a few times... it's part of the puzzle that makes life (and art) interesting.

I think that something major unlocked inside of you during the Cat'Art experience... time to visit France again to discover what actually happened. (that's where the secret lies)
I notice trees in silhouette making an appearance again...

you inspire me

Ooh! Secrets, locked doors, answers in France... sounds like a labyrinth for sure! On a simpler note, life is like a video game... as soon as you reach the next level, the number of locked doors, etc, double and you have to work harder and pay closer attention to make points. Whew! Just maintaining a certain level is hard enough! Thanks for the note...

Hey Karen....you could always think about a short trip to Italy next year. My friend Carolyn and I are going for a month mid-May...mid-June.
